My
background includes more than 35 years successful practical experience in staff
and management roles in communications network and broadcast industries. My
current assignment began in October 2004. From September 2003 through September
2004, I was a Systems Engineer with Athens Olympic Broadcasting. Both involve
design, construction and operation of transmission networks supporting
contribution, distribution and transmission of high-value program content.
From May 1991 to December 2002, I was with for MCI for 11-1/2 years, responsible
for network design and customer applications involving all forms of video and
audio including conferencing, broadcast video, and other high reliability
network systems. I also represented the company in standards development work
and dealt with sources of core technology and commercial off the shelf products
used in the network. I enjoy respectful relationships with peers and leaders in
both marketplaces.
In March 2004, Focal Press published my book, Practical IP and Telecom for
Broadcast Engineering and Operations. It is introductory in nature and
targeted at broadcast industry professionals interested in expanding their
knowledge of communications networks and systems. I have written and delivered
technical and business papers; participated in numerous panels before conference
and trade show audiences.
